Bulgarian Language and Culture Summer School 2012
Welcome to our Green Summer School
New Bulgarian University will be running its traditional Bulgarian Language and Culture Summer School from July 16 to August 5, 2012. It begins at NBU halls and continues amidst the unique Bulgarian nature, in the small villages at the foot of the Balkan Mountains.
This is the second year when some classes will be green. Come to master Bulgarian language in an ecologically-friendly and authentic environment!
In the course of your study you will be given the chance to immerse in the traditional Bulgarian atmosphere and become familiar with the Bulgarian folklore, crafts and traditions. You will be visiting picturesque historical places and witnessing the magnificent beauty of the Balkan Mountains. Guided by our highly qualified teachers, you are going to master the niceties of Bulgarian language in an authentic environment and acquire fluency by talking to local people.
Everyone who strives to learn more about Bulgaria and its language is invited to the Green Summer School.
Eligible participants in the Summer School include:
- Both specialists and non-specialists;
- Foreign students who want to study Bulgarian language and become familiar with Bulgarian culture;
- School teachers and university lecturers interested in Bulgarian language and culture;
- Businessmen and professionals who want to study Bulgarian language and become familiar with Bulgarian culture;
- Children and relatives of Bulgarians living abroad, etc.
The program of the school is practice-oriented in terms of Bulgarian language and culture studies and includes:
- An intensive 90-hour practical Bulgarian language course preceded by a diagnostic entry test;
- Language practice in an authentic environment (30 hours) and visits to sights of natural beauty and cultural significance, i.e. the city of Sofia, the town of Stara Zagora, the Balkan Mountains, etc.
- NBU offers various courses on Bulgarian history, culture and folklore at participants' request
- In case of group registration of more than 10 participants, NBU offers tailors-made courses
Successful summer school participants will receive a certificate in Bulgarian language at the respective level.
